Additional information: Home Performance w/ ENERGY STAR program (HPwES)

  • Sorry, if you have high electric bills, but use little to no permanent electric space heat, the HPwES building weatherization program won’t help lower your high electric bill. Contact your electrician for high electric use questions.

  • Homes space heated w/ fuel other than natural gas will be served by their electric utility.

  • Homes space heated w/ natural gas will be served by Liberty natural gas or Unitil natural gas utilities and might also qualify for some electric utility incentives.

  • Please be advised, eligibilty and enrollment is based on high space heating fuel use history. High fuel use is defined as approximately 70K btus’ of space heating fuel usage per sq. ft. of conditioned living space per heating season.

  • Once your home has been shown eligible for the program, and agreed to an audit / installation contractor, it is difficult to switch to a different contractor. You’ll have to facilitate the switch, we’ll provide you w/ a list of other vetted contractors in the program.

  • The utility program does not pay for any work or measures provided by a non approved audit / installation contractor. All requests for funding must be submitted by a vetted, approved contractor.

  • The client has 45 days to approve the contractor proposal, from the date of utility commitment of funding. Please see pg.2, Item 1 of the “Contract for Efficiency Work” for the funding date. The client has 4-6 weeks from the client agreement date to have the work completed. Contracts not completed w/in 12 total weeks from date of utility funding commitment are subject to contract retraction or delayed payment to contractor.

  • The HPwES program is focused on cost effective building shell air sealing and insulating measures. Doors and windows have proven not to meet cost effective thresholds in the NHSaves Home Performance programs. Door / window replacements cannot be funded.

  • Mechanical equipment replacement and lighting upgrades have been phased out as of July 2023.
